Northeastern Forest Fire Protection Compact Personnel
Scheduled for September 11th return




Incident Overview

The Last Inch Fire is a lightning caused fire burning 12 miles east of Clarkia, Idaho. The fire is currently 689 acres and 90% contained.  

Today, crews were assisted by the arrival of cool weather and higher humidity on the fire.

Steep slopes and the presence of damaged and dead trees present a moderate risk to firefighters. Assessment and mitigation strategies are in place to manage this risk.

Fuels Involved  Timber (Litter and Understory)

Significant Events  Minimal, smoldering.  Fire behavior is minimal with smoldering areas along the perimeter and interior

Outlook   Planned Actions  Reinforce existing dozer line and dig handline where appropriate. Continue working toward 100' extinguishment in from fire boundaries west of Woesner Ridge. Continue to work Southeast areas of the fire for planned suppression actions and conduct operations to improve safe access and mitigate hazards. Work on areas where the fire escaped containment lines on the northeast side of the fire.

Remarks
Perimeter was remapped September 4. Percent containment verified with field GPS and GIS data.

Current Weather  Weather Concerns  The continued drought remains in effect with no change in heavy fuels availability.
