Massachusetts Chief Fire Warden Dave Celino:

Fireworks caused this wild land fire in the town of Groton
Department of Conservation and Recreation's (DCR) Fire staff have assisted over 25 towns in the last 6 days on some 56 wild land fires that have burned around 47 acres.  Most fires have been contained at a small acreage. However, drought conditions are causing fire to burn as much as 8 inches into the ground and challenging suppression efforts.   Over the last three days 4 structures were lost in the town of Chelmsford, 1 in Townsend, and 1 in Westford from wild land fires.

Blue Hills:   DCR Fire is currently working a fire on the Blue Hills Reservation, located off Bunker Hill Lane.  The fire is active from yesterday afternoon and is estimated around 1 acre in size.
